Meet Our Team At Squatter Rites Gym, we’re driven by a shared commitment to health, education, and results — blending scientific expertise with practical, real-world fitness experience. Dr. Srinivasa K. Rao is a New York–based biomedical scientist whose career spans academia, vaccine research, and nutrition education. After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Paris in 1988, he conducted postdoctoral research at Columbia University and later joined the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also taught Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology at the City University of New York. Drawing on his experience in the vaccine industry, Dr. Rao deepened his knowledge of nutrition through courses at Stanford, Harvard, the University of Colorado, and Wageningen University in the Netherlands. His online nutrition lesson, which drew over 26,000 views, helped the India International Science Festival 2020 earn a Guinness World Record. He has also developed educational tools — from charts and flashcards to puzzles and coloring books — covering hundreds of food items to promote healthy eating. Kareem Cunningham, founder of Squatter Rites Gym, is a NASM-certified Personal Trainer, Weight Loss Specialist, and Nutrition Coach. He started the gym after seeing firsthand how some facilities prioritize profit over people and understanding the challenge of affording quality training in today’s economy. Kareem’s approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, offering clients personalized programs that blend strength training, fat loss strategies, and nutrition guidance. His mission is simple: deliver safe, effective, and sustainable results while making elite-level fitness accessible to everyone. Together, Dr. Rao and Kareem bring a unique balance of scientific insight and hands-on training expertise — creating an environment where knowledge meets action, and where every client has the tools and support to succeed.
